The card index emoji shows a desk top spiral index card holder, similar to those used in office environments, to hold contact details or business cards; at least that was the case pre-electronics!! On most emoji platforms, the details on the individual index cards are not clear. They usually depict indistinguishable shapes and colors, though the Apple version is considerably more elaborate and has – when viewed magnified – the details of a fictional “Jane Appleseed” whose postcode is given as Apple HQ’s own. The emoji is used when talking about contacts and contact details, or to highlight contact details contained within a message.
